Riviera announces the new 515 – the very latest addition to the SUV Collection

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Riviera, Australia’s favorite and most awarded luxury boat builder has just announced details of its new 515 SUV, which now has a full interior display on show at Riviera’s Coomera facility, ahead of her world release at the Riviera Festival of Boating in May 2014.

Created in-house using industry-leading Unigraphics 3D software, Riviera’s team of talented and passionate international designers and engineers have focused on absolute maximisation of this brand new design in every minute detail.  This sophisticated software allows Riviera designers to see the exact size, space and scale of every aspect of the boat in the computer long before a single piece of timber is cut for the plug work.

Bearing Riviera’s classic hallmark design, the new 515 SUV has been crafted with Riviera’s rich-heritage in mind.  Combining the high performance, blue water cruising and fish raising abilities of the classic Flybridge with the single-level leisurely entertaining features of the popular Sport Yacht series, has created a vessel like no other, a true bridge between them both.

Riviera’s chief executive officer Wes Moxey said the new 515 SUV featured a host of clever and versatile design innovations.

“The elevated helm area provides excellent visibility and enough space for two 16 inch display screens, as well as a steering wheel position just off the centre line.  The helm features two Navigator low-back helm chairs,” he said.

The hardtop features two impressive Webasto sunroofs above the saloon area that open electrically with the push of a button.  Webasto is a highly regarded Dutch company, which was established in 1901 and pioneered the first steel sunroof to Daimler-Benz in 1956.

The incorporation of this new sunroof design marks another exciting development in the 515 SUV’s DNA, which includes purposeful lines, hefty scantlings, the solid feel in a seaway, spacious layout and Euro-style luxurious décor. And of course, a full flybridge-size cockpit.

“The spacious saloon features an L-shaped lounge to port with a hi-lo dining table which folds and lowers into a coffee table.  Adjacent to the dining area is a three-seater settee in which the middle seat base can slide out as an ottoman and form additional seating around the main dining table.  An optional smaller dining table can be fitted that lifts out from the settee and sits between the two remaining seats to form a work space or additional dining capacity.

“Forward of the three-seater settee is the television and Fusion sound system stored beneath the dash on the starboard side for all your onboard entertainment needs.  The television can be viewed from all seating positions.

“The modern and functional U-Shaped galley features a modern two-pack finish to the overhead cupboards, which compliment the satin finish American oak timber cabinetry.  There is a hopper window that opens out to the cockpit area that in effect opens up the rear of the boat to the cockpit.  In the headlining above the galley there is a rod locker complete with clips for rods and reels, making this the ideal vessel for the avid angler or cruising entertainer.”

Riviera’s chairman and owner Rodney Longhurst said the design team had retained elements of the distinctive Riviera look while introducing myriad new design aspects.  The striking exterior profile of the 515 SUV is just the first indication that this is an entirely new style of Riviera.

“From the moment you step onboard you will sense this is a new approach from Riviera.  Double side transom doors in the cockpit allow better access from both the port and starboard sides, plus we have a number of different transom door options to suit different boating applications for cruising or sport fishing,” Mr Longhurst said.

The cockpit features an island storage centre which offers space for an optional additional barbecue or live bait tank with filter and glass front.  The cockpit seating features an optional integrated and interchangeable table, which provides a versatile alfresco entertaining area.  There is a freezer and recycling bin located just behind the cockpit lounge for convenient access while entertaining.

The 515 SUV also features extensive cockpit storage with a central self-draining moulded lazarette bin that has been integrated into the cockpit floor, tender storage is on the boarding platform and there is the option for a hydraulic platform which can be fitted to the boat on which a large rigid bottom tender can be mounted.

Side deck access has been enhanced with grab rail and optional extended bow rail.  This boat also features an impressive commercial air intake system designed to keep the engine room cooler and thus reducing fuel consumption.

Below decks is a flexible accommodation plan featuring three very generous sized staterooms and two bathrooms.  The master stateroom can be located either forward or aft and has an ensuite bathroom in both optional layouts to allow owners to truly personalise their boat.  The two aft cabins offer full head-room while large hull windows with opening port holes on both sides give an abundance of natural light and fresh air.  Optional hull port lights are available for the forward stateroom.

Standard power is the new generation and fuel efficient twin Cummins QSC Zeus 600 pod drives that deliver improved fuel efficiency, faster cruise and top speeds with aft facing propellers and joystick control for close quarters manoeuvring.  Riviera’s new 515 SUV is expected to top 29-30 knots, cruising at 22-24 knots and delivers a range of 390 nautical miles with 10 per cent reserve fuel.

There are two engine options available on the new 515 SUV.  The Volvo Penta IPS 800s – 441kW (2 x 600hp) or IPS 950s – 533kW (2 x 725hp).

Be among the first in the world to inspect the full interior display of the striking new 515 SUV at Riviera’s 14-hectare, state-of-the-art Coomera facility, Waterway Drive, Coomera.  Your nearest Riviera dealer can arrange a private inspection.

Riviera offers 15 different models from 36 to 75 feet across three model series Flybridge, Sport Yacht and the new SUV collection.

In 2012 Riviera celebrated the launch of its 5000th boat, the 445 SUV, a significant achievement in the company’s rich 33-year history.

Riviera also offers the bespoke Belize Motoryachts.  Inspired by classic luxury details and timeless style, Belize Motoryachts has recently released the new 54 foot Sedan and Daybridge models.

Americas market enthusiastic towards the latest Riviera and Belize models

2013-11-02 16.26.01

Fresh from the 54th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida, USA, which wrapped up on Monday of this week, Riviera secured buyers for eight of its luxury boats in the American market.

Totalling US$9million, retail sales in the “yachting capital of the world” included Riviera’s 43 Open Flybridge, 445 SUV, the yet-to-be-released 50 Enclosed Flybridge and Belize 54 Motoryacht.

This outstanding result for Australia’s favourite and most awarded luxury boat builder, signals an immediate acceptance of the latest models to be released in the Americas, which Riviera Chief Executive Officer, Wes Moxey, welcomes with open arms.

“Americans love what they’re seeing from Riviera, which is gratifying to us indeed,” Mr Moxey says. “With our series of new models being launched at Fort Lauderdale this year and Miami next February, the future looks very promising.”

The new models, which were launched and received with great enthusiasm at the Fort Lauderdale boat show were the new Riviera 565 SUV and new Belize 54 Motoryacht,

Described as a “unique cross-over craft between a Flybridge and Sport Yacht”, the 565 SUV is the latest luxury cruiser born of more than 33 years of boat-building design, experience and global owner feedback. The spacious 565 SUV features a flexible accommodation plan with sleeping capacity for six to seven adults in three cabins with two bathrooms.

Set to premier at the Miami International Boat Show in 2014, two of the new 50 Enclosed Flybridge have already sold off the plan at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, a very strong endorsement for the luxury pleasure craft brand. Created in-house using industry-leading Unigraphics 3D software, Riviera’s team of talented and passionate international designers and engineers have focused on absolute maximisation of space and aesthetics of this brand new Enclosed Flybridge design.

The sleek lines of the Belize 54 Motoryacht, not only delivers style, with art deco influences and a bespoke finish, but real substance with resin-infused composite construction, double vinylester outer skin, watertight stepped collision bulkhead and independent foam-filled hull compartments. Featuring three cabins with two bathrooms, including a full beam master stateroom with ensuite and opening port lights on either side to provide cross-ventilation, the Belize 54 is available in either a Sedan or Daybridge model.

Riviera chairman and owner Rodney Longhurst, is ecstatic about the recent international sales, with American buyers hailing from the Great Lakes to Florida, and attributes this success to Riviera’s hard-working, professional team and their commitment to detail.

“The result from Fort Lauderdale is a fantastic recognition of the efforts over the last 12 months of Riviera’s experienced and talented team of designers and craftsmen,” Mr Longhurst says.

“Together, they’re working hard with a unified purpose and desire, knowing that they’re creating beautiful, world-class boats.”

Mr Longhurst notes that being the largest island continent, surrounded by some of the world’s roughest seas and oceans, Riviera boats are designed to take the worst that Mother Nature can deliver.

“I think boating enthusiasts from the Americas appreciate this fact and love the tough character of our boats just as they love our tough, iconic Australian characters such as Crocodile Dundee and Steve Irwin.”

The New Year will see an increase in staffing levels at Riviera, in line with growing international and national demand for Riviera’s luxury boats, adding to the company’s impressive growing forward order bank.

“We’ll also be recommencing Riviera’s awarded apprentice training program, taking in 15 to 20 apprentices across a number of trades in January – the first of two intakes in 2014,” Mr Longhurst says. “We’re proudly helping to create the next generation of Australian world-class boat builders.”

Running from October 31 until November 4, 2013, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show culminated in a VIP event for Riviera’s America’s owners to celebrate the US premiere of the Riviera 565 SUV and Belize 54.

Approximately 100 Riviera owners attended the Saturday evening event to celebrate the arrival of two striking new models amidst a sea of fine food, entertainment and good company.

Currently exporting 55 per cent of Riviera’s annual production of luxury boats, Mr Longhurst is both humbled and delighted by this historical resurgence in the Americas. The best Americas boat show result in many years.

“I’d like to thank the passion of our dealer network in the Americas whose continued commitment to Riviera is now being rewarded with the welcome addition of these new boat owners to the Riviera family,” he says.

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show covered six locations and over three million square feet of space. With over 1000 exhibitors including a variety of runabouts, high performance boats, motor yachts, catamarans, ski boats, jet skis, canoes and even exotic cars, the show was a sight to behold. There were also fishing seminars, presentations of art, jewellery and design for yacht and home plus fine dining and cocktails aplenty.

Riviera offers 15 different models from 36 to 75 feet across three model series Flybridge, Sport Yacht and the new SUV collection.

Kooringal Experience fun for young and young at heart

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Kooringal, QLD, Australia:  As nine month old baby Kristy Bielenberg sat perched in her high chair in the cockpit of her parent’s 47 Flybridge, it was clear that this was going to be an experience to remember for the whole family.

Her parents, Scott and Raelee, took delivery of their 47 in July of last year, and whilst this was their second Riviera, this was their first R Marine Jones Experience.  It was also the first time they had taken their new boat to Kooringal.

Joining 22 other Rivieras ranging in size from 40 feet to 56 feet, Scott, Raelee and their four daughters, Bianca (12), Emily (10), Jaimee (3), and Kristy (9 months), met Randall and the R Marine Jones team at the southern end of Moreton Island before venturing up the channel to Kooringal.

Listed on the Australian Heritage Register, Moreton Island is located 35 kilometres off the coast of Brisbane and is renowned for its crystal clear water, white sandy beaches, and marine life such as green turtles, humpback whales and dugongs.

The annual experience is usually held on the Australia Day long weekend at the end of January but the day before scheduled departure, R Marine Jones dealer principal, Randall Jones, decided to postpone the Experience.

“At first, I thought it was the wrong decision, especially given the number of people who had been waiting for this event to come around,” Randall said.

“After losing sleep about postponing our first event in 11 years, I woke up to hear the weather report and soon realised it was the right decision.”

South East Queensland was battered with torrential rain, flash flooding, 60 knot winds and tornadoes as ex-tropical cyclone Oswald tore through the state during the Australia Day long weekend.

R Marine Jones rescheduled the Kooringal Experience to be held on February 15, 16 and 17, and although the wet weather was still hanging around, it didn’t dampen the spirits of the 53 adults and seven children who joined R Marine Jones for the 4th annual Kooringal Experience

For Scott and Raelee, it was an amazing experience, and one that the whole family enjoyed.

“We wanted to catch up with other Riviera owners and meet some new friends who we could go out boating with,” he said.

“We met a couple of families who had young children too, and all the kids had a great time together.

“The poor weather didn’t disappoint.  Jaimee (3) had a ball, she was into everything helping dad and Bianca drive the boat while Emily was wakeboarding behind.

“Kristy, our nine month old baby had a great time as well.  We bought along her portable high chair which we clamped onto the cockpit table and she was the centre of attention with all the ladies making a fuss over her.

“For me, the highlight of the trip was getting together on the beach for fresh prawns and oysters.

“We were out in the tender and saw the funniest thing, when Sharm (from R Marine Jones) was pulling squid onto the back of the boat and ink was squirting everywhere, but he did catch 17 squid.

“It was a great cruise to Kooringal and Randall went to a lot of effort to mark out the course to ensure we didn’t run aground.

“We had a fantastic weekend away and it was nice to meet the other Riviera owners.”

Randall said the 60 nautical mile round trip from the Gold Coast to Moreton Island was one of the most popular experiences on the R Marine Jones calendar of events.

“Once we reached the entrance to Kooringal, Sharm, on board Riv1 led the fleet through the narrow channel dropping marker buoys so the group had the best track in.  This entry can be challenging,” Randall said.

“The weather was overcast at times, but all in all, the group enjoyed our favourite experience.

“We organised a social night for owners to get to know each other with king prawns, freshly shucked oysters, and Thai style hot food at the Gutter Bar, which is one of our favourite watering holes.  We had a great meal and enjoyed a few drinks.

“The next morning we organised a walk around the Spit of Moreton, and the timing was right on cue for a big down pour, but that didn’t deter our keen walkers.  As the weather improved, we guided the group in their own tenders to the local shallows where there is always plenty of marine life to see under the water including, sting rays, shovel nose sharks, and turtles.

“That afternoon our expert fisherman and on site service support Sharm Brown caught 17 squid, which made for a nice feed of calamari cooked on the barbecue after being spiced with whatever we could find.”

On the Sunday morning, R Marine Jones led the group out of the narrow inlet and back into the main channel where they each went their separate ways homeward bound and with fond memories of another enjoyable R Marine Jones Experience.

Riviera 53 Enclosed Flybridge

Designed from the keel up, using Riviera’s Uni-Graphics NX three dimensional CAD software system, the new 53 has been developed in-house after nearly two years of detailed consultation with boat owners across the globe.

The result is a fresh approach, signalling a new generation of Riviera prowess and efficiency. The 53 is a vessel of considerable internal volume, allowing Riviera’s designers to create unprecedented living spaces, elegant amenities and unrivalled performance.

The vessel’s lines on the water are both powerful and noble, with a strong sheer forward and raised topsides create as much freeboard as a much larger vessel.

The Riviera 53 features hull lines run straight aft from maximum beam, creating a powerful lift and planning surface along with great stability.

Moulded window casings create style and function, bringing 360 degrees of light into the interior and offering water views from every saloon seating position.

The 53’s main deck design is the culmination of years of experience from the Riviera design team, bringing light and fresh air from the huge cockpit – which doubles as an entertainment venue complete with hidden barbecue – into the main saloon living space, through a sliding glass door and a hinged awning window.

The U-shaped galley design is positioned aft and therefore central to the massive saloon entertainment space and the cockpit. The galley is located to the port side and separated from fore and aft passing traffic.

The Riviera 53 offers the latest in European appliances showcased in high gloss timber and solid surface bench top. Central to the galley is a combination oven, featuring an induction cooktop, with microwave oven and electric grill. Drawer fridge and freezer along with a drawer dishwasher are all standard.

Opposite the galley, to starboard, is a wet bar featuring options for ice maker, drawer fridge and freezer, and a floor to ceiling pull-out pantry. All galley drawers operate on soft close runners.

Also opposite the galley is a stylish internal staircase leading to the enclosed flybridge. Its floating teak treads mounted on solid stainless steel rails complements what will be a beautiful interior.

Forward of the galley is a C-shape dinette to port, that can convert into a double berth with a drop-down table. This arrangement faces a C-shape settee on the starboard side creating a spacious social setting for up to 10 in sheer cruising comfort. All of the lounges on the 53 are plush and luxurious, with a generous depth of padding.

An option for a massive wide screen 50” TV on electric lift rises from the dash forward on the port side bringing sport and entertainment to the entire living area.

The flybridge is available in two options, with helm forward for long-distance cruising or helm aft, which many skippers prefer when sportsfishing. In either option, skipper and mate are seated on swivel pedestal chairs for maximum visibility.

A dinette table set amidst a C-shape settee on the port side of the flybridge seats six comfortably, and a separate lounge to starboard complements the seating arrangement. A wet bar with drawer fridges and handbasin serves to refresh while underway. Prepared food is easily brought up to the flybridge from the galley directly below via the internal staircase. At rest or underway, the staircase can be secured for privacy or as a safety precaution via a folding, lockable hatch that disappears when open into varnished cabinetry.

The roof of the flybridge boasts a sliding electric sun roof creating a sky-lounge, typical of much larger vessels. Side-opening windows and surround visibility will add to the light, airy atmosphere.

The vessel’s massive engine room allows for flexibility of power plant choice, with the option for crew quarters or workshop isolated from the main living space. And the propulsion arrangement allows for maximum amidships space, which is used to deliver the most luxurious master stateroom for a vessel of this size.

When the party is over, there is nothing as comfortable as retiring to the full beam master stateroom, with king-size bed set amidships, and ample space either side. Port and starboard alarmed opening port holes bring light and fresh air below. A separate ensuite with solid surface non-slip tiled floor is set slightly below the level of the main cabin to contain water. A vanity unit with surface-mounted porcelain sink, typical of those found on much larger vessels, and a vacu-flush toilet complete the amenity.

A large cedar-lined walk-in robe complements the master stateroom, which features a multitude of storage set behind high quality gloss woodwork – a feature of all Riviera boats.

There is a massive 96,000 BTU capacity air conditioning on the new 53 reflecting the increasing use of Riviera boats in harsh tropical conditions. All venting and ducting is discretely hidden behind the stylish cabinetry.

To balance the interior, the 53 features a clever combination of varnished wood and fabric panelling, to create a soft acoustic ‘feel’ with visual styling to match.

Forward of the master stateroom is a guest stateroom, with a queen-size bed and wardrobe, and a third cabin with two single berths. A separate ensuite serves the guest accommodation and doubles as the day head, making this vessel perfect for larger families, or holidays involving two couples with children.

When it comes to propulsion, Riviera designers have settled on new-generation, fuel efficient pod drives to propel the 53 to a top speed of around 30 knots and a cruise speed between 24-26 knots delivering a range of 400 nautical miles on a 3500 litre fuel tank.

The standard engine package is twin IPS 900 units.

With all major engineering positioned well aft, enormous gains are made with beam-width space amidships, and that translates into better living. Mid-ship fuel tanks from keel to saloon sole double as a sound barrier between master bedroom and engine room and help deliver better trim to the vessel when cruising.

The 53’s hull is laminated using vacuum infusion to deliver an exceptionally sound structure that incorporates areas of solid GRP and various core materials, depending on engineering requirements.

Infusion technology used in the hull also helps replicate the incredibly precise lines lofted from Riviera’s CAD computer system, and provides an accurate foundation for parts milled on a 5-axis CAD – driven router.

Controlling all DC electronics is the digital system, a revolutionary Controller Area Network (CAN) bus design that allows for the ultimate in customisation and finger-touch control of all aspects of electrical operation, from entertainment lighting to navigation equipment.

“Each Riviera vessel is an evolution on the last,” says Riviera’s head designer Stephen Ford. “After launching over 5,000 Riviera’s over the past 32 years, the new 53 is clearly our best boat yet.”

Riviera 445 SUV

The SUV collection is a culmination of more than 32 years of boat building design, experience and extensive owner feedback from around the world.

Bearing Riviera’s classic hallmark design, the new 445 SUV has been crafted with Riviera’s rich-heritage in mind. Combining the high performance, blue water cruising abilities and large open cockpit of the classic Flybridge with the fish raising abilities of the Offshore Express, and the single-level leisurely, entertaining features of the popular Sport Yacht series, has created a vessel like no other, a true bridge between all of them.

Riviera’s Director of Brand and Communications Stephen Milne says the 445 SUV was in all respects a true embodiment of Riviera heritage.

“By this we mean that all the familiar and reassuring aspects of proven Riviera boatbuilding DNA are there; purposeful lines, hefty scantlings, the solid feel in a seaway, spacious layout and Euro-style luxurious décor. And of course, a full no-nonsense Flybridge-scale cockpit,” he says.

“Like our Sport Yachts and the newer Flybridge models, the SUV embraces a single, much larger, flexible saloon seating design that multi-functions for dining, cocktail, coffee, reading, lounging and even extra sleeping if required.”

Forward in the saloon is the protected helm station to port, comfortably sheltered within the main deckhouse, giving the feel of a very spacious enclosed flybridge, yet all on the main entertaining and living deck level.

The galley links the saloon and cockpit, in quiet conversational proximity to the aft-facing mezzanine lounge just outside the large awning window.

The new 445 SUV features two staterooms dominating amidships and extending full beam.
The opulent master stateroom forward has a plush island bed with large under-bed drawers and full-length wardrobe hanging space. There are long fixed-hull windows that bring light and reflections into the master stateroom.

The guest stateroom aft features three single berths, one single along the starboard hull side and two athwartships with storage underneath. There is plenty of space, light and storage in this cabin with two large fixed portlights and two opening portholes, a large hanging locker, drawer cabinet, reading and overhead lighting; making this vessel ideal for the family of five.

The two staterooms are separated by two generous and beautifully appointed bathrooms, a guest/day head to starboard and the master ensuite forward to port.

The Riviera SUV introduces a fresh design scheme for internal spaces, and the Riviera design team have created a whole new-look palette of calming yet warm colours in champagne, crème, straw, manila and burnished orange; in surfaces of laminate, leather, suede, mirror, American oak, plush sisal carpet and subtle waffle fabric textures.

The SUV model series is not only pleasing to the eye, she is just as impressive below the water line, with Riviera’s leading edge CAD technology designed hull with a 14.5 degree deadrise at the transom, Volvo IPS pod-drive propulsion and legendary award-winning build quality.

“The SUV has been built using a superior strength hand-laid hull which is solid GRP below the water line and structural core material on the hull sides, main deck and hardtop, as well as precisely fitted lightweight resin transfer molded components,” says Mr Milne. “So we have a boat of great strength where required with lighter weight components to avoid any excessive weight. These elements combine to aid overall performance.

“A great deal of our acumen regarding hull shape has contributed to, for example, aft chine strakes that have a straight run, to enhance both speed and manoeuvrability.

“One of the biggest advantages of the Volvo IPS system is that the bulk of the engineering machinery can be positioned well aft, rather than amidships, as shaft drives dictate. This allows us to create a compact SUV with all the internal space you would expect from a Sport Yacht and with the blue water capabilities of our Flybridge and Offshore Express.

“The 445 model is really an ideal mid-sized example of the SUV, and we will develop further variations of this exciting new design in the near future,” Mr Milne adds.

The unprecedented new Riviera SUV collection is a completely new model series, which has already received strong interest from Riviera enthusiasts and is yet another innovative and functional design from Australia’s most awarded luxury boat builder.
