The summer heat is still rolling around much of the United States but lots of people have a found a creative way to cool off and make a difference.  By now you have probably heard about the viral sensation ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that has raised over $90 million.

When Frank Rodriguez and his crew on the Viking 70 Enclosed Bridge Fa La Me challenged us, we had to take them up on it. Everyone knows the Viking 70 and Viking 62 demo crews are known to have a friendly rivalry but looks like the boys are heating it up. Now we challenge you. Are you up for it?

Building A Better Plant

Building a better plant at Viking yachts

Viking‘s ongoing improvements to enclose and enjoin our manufacturing buildings is a step closer to reality with the raising of six new 10 ton bridge cranes, each one equipped with a pair of remotely controlled five ton hoists.

Because the hoists also can operate independently, it will now be possible to move large molds and modular components both horizontally and longitudinally throughout the building, picking up and dropping off wherever needed to facilitate our build process. This will significantly enhance our overall efficiencies throughout the plant, remaining ever true to Viking co-founder Bill Healey’s mission to build a better boat every day.

Viking 52 Profile

Experience is the best teacher and nowhere is this more evident than in the development of a boat’s helm. Our new Viking 52 Sport Tower model presents a good example of this critical attention to detail.  She’s set to premiere next month at our 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration and VIP sea trial day, September 9-10, 2014 at the Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Viking 52 Command Deck

Providing good visibility for the operator is paramount, and this includes the ability to monitor the navigation and fishing electronics. As the rendering shows in this case, our subsidiary Atlantic Marine Electronicsequipped the helm with three 15-inch screens affording the operator with an unobstructed view of the sounder, plotter and radar.  Engine instrumentation is visible on centerline. The raised pod, which houses the electronic equipment is sealed for all weather performance. Another of our subsidiaries, Palm Beach Towers, designed and built the custom tuna tower with a full set of controls and additional electronics for seamless performance when operating the boat from the upper location.

Riviera 47 (2007) For Sale @ReadMarine

Model: 47 G2

Year: 2007

Engines: CAT C12 725hp

Sleek, dynamic and elegant but never ostentatious, the Riviera 47 is a beautiful expression of innovation, and the perfect blend of form and function. Consider the following- With two staterooms and a third cabin, the Riviera 47 can comfortably accommodate six adults in under-stated opulence. The stately beam provides a large and deep lounge, but features such as the generous salon table for four, large tinted salon windows, superior headroom, and the high-gloss cherry wood cabinetry create an easy, open flow throughout the Riviera 47. Purpose-built to handle the rigours of The World’s Oceans, the 47 hull was designed by the one of the world leading naval architechts- Frank Mulder. This innovative hull design delivers performance that can only be described as sensational. Notable features of the design include deep pockets housing the shaft in the aft section, providing a lower shaft angle that delivers superior forward thrust for increased fuel efficiency and higher top speeds. Other details include under-water exhaust that greatly provides quieter/enjoyable operation. A large keel, ample free-board and a beautifully sculpted bow flare keeps her decks dry, and tracking true and effortlessly in adverse sea conditions.
