Color Me Stars and Stripes Blue

Colored hulls have become a popular request for Viking owners looking to add truly unique and personal touches, as this Viking 66 Enclosed Bridge Convertible in Stars and Stripes Blue so aptly demonstrates. But a peek inside reveals that the beauty goes beyond skin deep.

Picture yourself relaxing after a perfect day on the water in the tastefully appointed salon.

In addition to a flying bridge ladder on the mezzanine deck in the 174 square-foot cockpit, the interior staircase provides all weather access to the enclosed bridge.

The master stateroom is spacious with attention-to-detail everywhere you look, including twin maple-lined hanging lockers, a credenza, the en suite head and teak joinery throughout.

Guests fare nicely in three additional staterooms, like the forward cabin (left) with a walk-around queen berth, and a private crew stateroom (right) with access from the engine room. See this enticing Viking 66 Enclosed Bridge Convertible, one of 15 new models on display at the 2014 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show at the Bahia Mar Yachting Center, October 30-November 3, 2014.

European première for Belize 54 Daybridge at Cannes Yachting Festival

European première for Belize 54 Daybridge at Cannes Yachting Festival

The distinctive new Belize 54 Daybridge from the bespoke Belize Motoryacht Collection will make her European premiere at the 2014 Cannes Yachting Festival from September 9 to 14.

This opulent new vessel from Riviera Australia will lead an impressive line-up of luxurious Australian designed cruisers from the award-winning manufacturer, including the 4400 Sport Yacht and 45 Open Flybridge.

Riviera chairman and owner Rodney Longhurst said Riviera looked forward to showcasing its latest designs at Europe’s largest and most esteemed boat show.

Belize Motoryachts 54 Daybridge

·         Fresh original design blends traditional charm with the latest marine technology

·         Free-flowing feel from expansive cockpit to luxurious raised helm

·         Opulent interior – 3 staterooms/2 bathrooms

·         Full-beam master stateroom

·         High-performance hull with keel

·         Cummins Zeus pod drives x 2 (442kW x 600hp) – top speed of around 30 knots, cruising range of 304NM at 21 knots

·         Engineering excellence – hull constructed in ISO-certified yard/5-year structural warranty

·         Orders have been placed up to hull number 18

“Our latest models have been very well received in the Americas and we are certain the European market will be equally impressed with Riviera and Belize’s 2014 model collection,” Mr Longhurst said.

“Our new Belize 54 Daybridge is already proving popular among boating aficionados with her sophisticated styling, luxurious interior, savvy storage concepts and high-performance hull design.

“Inspired by timeless panache and Australian practicality, the Belize Motoryacht line was designed to cater for the growing affection for high-end luxury power boats that boast an original design blending traditional charm with the latest in marine technology and is available in both the Daybridge and Sedan models.”

Riviera and Belize international sales director Chris McCafferty said the Belize 54 Daybridge had the ability to transfix an entire bay of modern craft when she glides in.

“The sleek lines, sweet sheer, shippy bulwark, shapely hatches and portholes…and of course the substance to her stainless steel rails and cleats are key attributes that set this Belize apart and already 18 hulls have been purchased of this new timeless design,” Mr McCafferty said.

Long before you step on-board you get the impression that the 54 Daybridge is in a class all of its own. Belize designers have purposed every inch of available space through smart storage compartments and additional living space.

A large double sunpad sprawls the centreline of the forward deck, with stainless steel drink holders and music controls conveniently placed within easy reach. Located inside the anchor locker are fresh and salt water wash-down points, as well as a deep storage space for additional ground tackle and fenders, while a reliable Muir anchor retrieval system is located under a protective hatch at the bow of the boat, creating more deck space and a very clean appearance.

Mr McCafferty said the centre section of the 54 Daybridge’s large teak-deck swim platform raises and lowers hydraulically to grant easy access to the transom’s electric door garage where there is space for a three-metre tender and outboard that can be easily launched or retrieved without getting your feet wet using the built-in electric winch.

“Above the garage, there’s another hatch that lifts to reveal an electric BBQ centre with grill, sink and solid surface bench top, with helpful LED lighting and stainless steel splashback in the open hatch cover that will impress the most discerning chef,” he said.

“The solid fibreglass hardtop extends aft over an expansive cockpit to ensure shade and shelter from extremities but at the same time enrich the indoor/outdoor characteristic for which Belize Motoryachts are renowned. There’s a cockpit joystick to port for easy and precise docking while, aft, is a large lounge with great storage under as well as a folding hi-lo table that can convert to a daybed. There’s even more storage at the cockpit bar with fridge and ice-maker console starboard, and swing-out stools at the breakfast bar to port … with a large glass awning window that, when open, connects the bar and galley as one – this is the place to enjoy a lazy breakfast or to drink in a sunset.”

Indeed, the opened glass awning window affirms the port galley as the key entertainment hub of the boat, where the innovative C-Zone central digital switching controls for all on-board lighting and electrics is also located.

Heading into the saloon from the cockpit, the 54 Daybridge’s rear bulkhead is toughened, curved glass, enriching the sense of light, space and liveability in the luxuriously appointed saloon, where panels of rich walnut, plush carpet and soft-touch leather are used in a contemporary palette to create a warm and inviting ambiance, with an added bonus of contributing to excellent acoustics throughout the main living areas and main helm.

Two-pack polyurethane finishes accent and protect key surfaces throughout the boat, including the galley where no less than Miele badges the induction cooktop, combination oven and microwave, and Vitrifrigo the two capacious chiller drawers and separate freezer drawer.

“To starboard is the heart of the saloon, a large L-shaped lounge and dinette where opening side windows allow natural ventilation,” said Mr McCafferty. “When the temperature calls for it, the saloon, galley and helm – as well as the below-deck staterooms – are all air-conditioned.”

The command centre of the 54 Daybridge is inspiring in its design and maintains the elegant sophistication of this boat – all key critical navigation electronics, engine instrumentation and vessel controls are within easy reach of the central high-backed Treban Italian leather electric helm seat fronting a high quality sports electric steering wheel, and providing excellent visibility of two 15-inch multifunction display screens. Alongside the helm seat is a forward-facing three-seater lounge starboard, and a two-seater lounge facing aft. At anchor or underway, fresh air can be introduced to the helm and saloon via a central overhead hatch.

Mr McCafferty said the sense of light and space flows through to the below-deck atrium and generous accommodation, which includes a full-beam master stateroom with queen-sized island bed, quality carpets, a fixed 24-inch TV/DVD and opening portlights within large portlight windows for cross ventilation. The master ensuite has satin-varnished teak floors and elegant German Grohe tapware and showerhead, adding an extra touch of opulence.

“The VIP stateroom is every bit as elegant as the master and occupies the entire forward bow section,” he said. “There are fixed portlights to port and starboard, a central round deck hatch overhead, make-up bureau with fold-out seat and mirror, hanging lockers as well as another 24-inch TV/DVD. The VIP ensuite, which doubles as the dayhead, also boasts luxurious bathroom appointments, large frameless glass shower stall, non-slip satin-varnished teak floors as well as its own round deck hatch and opening porthole, as well as more savvy storage concepts.

“The plushly carpeted guest cabin to starboard has full-sized upper and lower berths, hanging locker, bedside table and drawers as well as its own opening porthole and circular deck hatch. It’s another great example of the Belize belief system of going first-class.”

The inviting Daybridge of the 54 can be accessed via an elegantly curving, teak-tread staircase from the cockpit. Every bit as sociable as the main saloon, the Daybridge has a large L-shaped lounge to port with hi-lo table that can drop to create a second sunpad. Opposite is a wet bar with sink and fridge, as well as a second-station helm with all essential navigation aids.
Mr McCafferty said the hull of the 54 Daybridge was created with twin Cummins Zeus 600 pod drives with aft-facing propellers specifically in mind, resulting in a shape beautifully matched to her power source that slices through the water and ensures a silky and stable ride offshore.

“The highly evolved pod propulsion system not only delivers superior handling and manoeuvring in tight situations but also creates additional space to assist servicing and reduce maintenance costs.

“The pod drives deliver low noise levels, impressive fuel efficiency and high top-end speed and, in the case of the 54 Daybridge, a cruising range of 304NM at 21 knots.

“The Belize 54 Daybridge will make her European premiere at the 2014 Cannes Yachting Festival from 9-14 September.”

The bespoke Motor Yacht line, Belize Motoryachts is inspired by classic luxury details and timeless style.  Belize Motoryachts has just released the new 52 foot Sedan and Day Bridge models.

Building A Better Plant

Building a better plant at Viking yachts

Viking‘s ongoing improvements to enclose and enjoin our manufacturing buildings is a step closer to reality with the raising of six new 10 ton bridge cranes, each one equipped with a pair of remotely controlled five ton hoists.

Because the hoists also can operate independently, it will now be possible to move large molds and modular components both horizontally and longitudinally throughout the building, picking up and dropping off wherever needed to facilitate our build process. This will significantly enhance our overall efficiencies throughout the plant, remaining ever true to Viking co-founder Bill Healey’s mission to build a better boat every day.

Riviera CEO Wes Moxey (centre) congratulates the winners of the esteemed...

Riviera CEO Wes Moxey (centre) congratulates the winners of the esteemed 2014 Australia and New Zealand Dealer Awards.  L-R: Michael Pitman (R Marine South Australia), Paul Harrop (R Marine South Australia), Wes Moxey (CEO), Michael Joyce (R Marine Sydney), and Peter Welch (Riviera’s Dealer Relationship Manager).  Absent: Carl Segreto (R Marine Mandurah).

Good things certainly do come in threes for the team at R Marine South Australia who not only won three esteemed awards at the annual Australia and New Zealand dealer awards, but also won the coveted Overall Dealership of the Year award for the third consecutive year in recognition of their exceptional customer service, innovative owner experience events and dedication to the Riviera and Belize brands.

The 20th annual Australia and New Zealand Dealer Awards were held at a special ceremony at Cockle Bay in Sydney on the eve of the Sydney International Boat Show.  The awards recognise outstanding achievement and marine industry excellence within Riviera’s R Marine dealer network – the largest luxury owner network in the region.

Riviera’s dealer relationship manager Peter Welch said the awards were designed to bring together Riviera’s Australian and New Zealand R Marine dealer network to celebrate their success and recognise exceptional customer care.

“As an Australian manufacturer of luxury boats, I would like to think that our R Marine network sets a benchmark for boat dealerships in Australia and New Zealand and indeed world-wide,” Mr Welch said.

“The dealers are judged on their overall sales success, customer service and owner experience events, as well as their ability to maintain a professional and highly ethical representation of the Riviera and Belize brands.”

R Marine South Australia did exceptionally well this year winning the coveted Overall Dealership of the Year award, the Sales Excellence by a Dealership award (which they won jointly with R Marine Sydney), and dealer principal Paul Harrop won the Sales Excellence by an Individual award.

“We are honoured to have won three awards this year.  R Marine South Australia’s focus has been on giving our Riviera owners, and potential clients, a high standard of service and an ongoing great experience well beyond the initial boat purchase,” Mr Harrop said.

“It is a great work environment here at our Holdfast Shores office in Glenelg, South Australia and I believe our team’s enthusiasm flows on to our amazing owners who have been incredibly supportive over the years and love their Riviera boats.

“It has been a fantastic year for R Marine South Australia and our success wouldn’t be possible without the tremendous support of our families and administration team who truly are the backbone of our business.

“Our team consistently goes the extra mile to ensure complete customer satisfaction and I am proud to be part of such a dedicated team of marine professionals.”

Mr Welch commended the team at R Marine South Australia for their commitment to excellence.

“What really stood out from R Marine South Australia was their relentless passion.  They are committed to the Riviera lifestyle – it is not just a job for the team at R Marine South Australia, they live and breathe boating and this is evident in their strong relationships with their Riviera owners.”

For the first time in the award’s 20-year history, Riviera recognised two dealerships for Sales Excellence, R Marine South Australia and R Marine Sydney.  Mr Welch said both dealerships achieved the highest sales results across the Australia/New Zealand dealer network and deserved to be equally recognised for this achievement.

R Marine Sydney’s dealer principal Michael Joyce commended his team for their positive attitude and continued commitment to the Riviera and Belize brands.

“Our team’s camaraderie is evident in this award and it’s an honour to be recognised for our commitment to caring for Sydney customers,” Mr Joyce said.

The Service Excellence by a Dealership award was presented to one of Riviera’s newest dealers, R Marine Mandurah, located about 72 kilometres south of Perth, who over the past 18 months established a reputation for high quality service within their local boating community.

“We usually give this award to an individual but this year we felt that all of our dealerships had provided exceptional service, and in particular, R Marine Mandurah.  Carl Segreto and his team have done an amazing job in Western Australia since they officially opened in May last year.  We are continually hearing positive feedback and their commitment to service has been the most outstanding in the country,” Mr Welch said.

R Marine Mandurah dealer principal Carl Segreto congratulated his team on their dedication and commitment to servicing Mandurah’s Riviera owners.

“With over 600 Riviera’s in Western Australia there was a real need to open a dealership in Mandurah and I am grateful to all our loyal customers for their ongoing support over the past 18 months.  It was a real honour to be recognised for our service commitment at the annual Dealer Awards and I am proud of my team’s commitment to customer service and in particular, our service technician Mark Cole who does a fantastic job,” Mr Segreto said.

“Our fixed price servicing and ‘no fix, no pay’ guarantee is a great incentive for our customers and they also appreciate our 24/7 phone support and call out service.  It truly is the little things that can make all the difference in customer satisfaction and at R Marine Mandurah, our customer care is our number one priority.”

Riviera’s esteemed Dealer Awards have recognised excellence in sales, owner care and service innovation for the past 20 years and instils Riviera’s commitment to quality as championed by the entire Riviera factory team of over 400 people, the company’s CEO Wes Moxey and owner Rodney Longhurst.  These awards encourage the dealer network team to consistently go above and beyond for their Riviera Family of owners.

Riviera offers 15 different models from 36 to 75 feet across three model series Flybridge, Sport Yacht and the new SUV collection.

In 2012 Riviera celebrated the launch of its 5000th boat, the 445 SUV, a significant achievement in the company’s rich 34-year history.

Riviera also offers the bespoke Belize Motoryachts.  Inspired by classic luxury details and timeless style, Belize Motoryachts has recently released the new 54-foot Sedan and Daybridge models.

Breaking News from Viking Yachts

Triple Twice!                                                                  Like us on Facebook Follow us on Twitter

Frank Rodriguez, and his outstanding crew on his Viking 70 Enclosed Bridge Fa La Me, made history this month when he won the Bermuda Triple Crown for the second time! Fa La Me is the first boat to ever win this prestigious accomplishment twice. Comprised of a series of three major Bermuda-based billfish tournaments, the points earned at each event follow the boat, crew and anglers.  Fishing for blue marlin, as that is where the big points are, was a ponderous task for the team.

The Bermuda Big Game Classic, the first in the series, was a slow start with a lone white marlin release. Things picked up during the second event, the Bermuda Billfish Blast with four white marlin.  After 14 days, the frustrated crew was still looking for the elusive blue marlin bite.  Then it happened!

On the first day of the Sea Horse Anglers Club Billfish Tournament, Frank hooked up with a blue and 18 minutes later the team was back in the saddle. Four blue marlin and a wahoo followed to win not just the Sea Horse event but take the title of the Bermuda Triple Crown Championship. Frank also took Top Angler in the Sea Horse Leg. Congratulations Frank, captain Rob Moore, mates Taylor and Tyler Beckford and anglers Dave Berard and Jeffrey De Silva. We’re looking forward to a triple Triple next year!

Congratulations are also in order to Lainey Jones fishing on her Viking 66 Mama Who. Lainey was Second Place Lady Angler in the Billfish Blast leg of the series.

Bragging Rights

Viking Ocean

A fleet of 40 boats, half Viking half Ocean yachts, converged on the Canyon Club Marina for the annual Viking Ocean Showdown.  Amidst dinner, dancing and a lively pool party complete with grilled steaks and tropical drinks the anglers did find some time to fish on Thursday and Saturday.

When lines were called at the end of the final day, Viking Yachts had the edge over Ocean Yachts winning the coveted Grand Champion trophy. Captain Ryan Higgins claimed Most Points Tuna on the Viking 70 while Team Viking member Beth Cesarini nabbed the Heaviest Tuna with a 68 pounder while fishing on Gypsea.  Kaela Colyar, aboard the Viking 60 Gigabyte II,  was the Top Junior Angler. The release only billfish tournament pits these two New Jersey boat manufacturers against each other in a friendly rivalry for bragging rights. Tournament Director Bob Glover said, “It’s a fun get together between these two boat builders. Everybody is friends, so it’s a one of a kind, unique situation.”
