Waiting for Launch

Viking Yacht Company
In the Spotlight

Final preparations are in the works as the first Viking 66 Enclosed Bridge Convertible reaches the end of the production line and is about to move from Building 2 to the water for its initial launching.

The stable mate to the 66 Convertible, which premiered at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show in October, this new model will be unveiled at our VIP Preview at the Viking Yacht Service Center in Riviera Beach, Florida, February 3-4, 2012 prior to the Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show later that month. Regular updates will follow as the boat reaches fruition, but in the meantime here is a quick tour.

In a few weeks, the enclosed bridge will be a showcase of luxurious design, but for now the engineering group is happy with its removable instrumentation pods.

In the main salon, the expanse and wise use of space is readily apparent. A 46-inch flat screen television will grace the forward starboard bulkhead. Opposite the spacious L-shaped lounge is the available day head. Each of the four staterooms has its own private head and shower.

Custom granite and abundant stowage behind the hand-finished high-gloss teak joinery accent the galley.

As you would expect from Viking, the engineroom is a showpiece of the company’s engineering and design prowess. There’s also access to the crew quarters from the engineroom for convenience and added privacy.

Smoke on the Water

Viking Yacht Company
In the Spotlight

An unseasonably cold 24 degree morning makes for an interesting early December portrait as Viking 70712, a 70 Enclosed Bridge Convertible leaves the make ready dock and heads out to the Atlantic Ocean for an engineering sea trial.

With wisps of sea smoke, ample layers of frost on the dock, the cockpit transom box lid and the black windshield mask, it’s like Palm Beach in the heated comfort of the enclosed bridge.
